Eleventh Annual Andrews Autumn Conference on Religion and Science
Beyond the Creation Wars
October 28-29, 2016
The 2016 Andrews Autumn Conference was held October 28-29, 2016 on the campus of Andrews University, Berrien Springs, Michigan. Featured speakers are Darrel Falk (Point Loma Nazarene University), Todd Wood (Core Academy of Science), and Rob Barrett (The Colossian Forum).
The science and theology of origins has been an occasion for strenuous conflicts among Christians. As different sides have formed and solidified their positions and arguments, the ability to listen well and work together in the pursuit of truth and love has sadly dwindled.
Darrel Falk and Todd Wood are Christians who hold different positions on origins, and hold them strongly. However, for the past three years they have been nurturing their shared bond in Christ as a way of moving forward from an entrenchment that has been harmful to God’s people. They have not changed their views on origins, but through their friendship, they have developed an ability to communicate well, care for one another, and pursue truth and love in edifying ways. In this conference, Todd and Darrel will outline their positions on origins, respond to each other’s critiques, and narrate their journey together as fellow pilgrims. Conference discussions will provide opportunities for exploring how their example might help more scientists and theologians move beyond the conflicts which are damaging the mission of the Church on a number of fronts.
